Hello and welcome to Calltime!

My name is Lyssa. I’m a musical theatre actress, a lifelong lover of the stage who has been fortunate enough to constantly be moving between rehearsal studios, dressing rooms and backstage corridors for the past couple of years. For as long as I can remember, I’ve lived in a world of music, movement, words, rehearsals and families forged and changed, all leading up to that magical moment when the curtain rises.

But this blog isn’t just about life on stage.
It’s about everything around it.

About what happens behind the scenes. The rehearsal days when nothing seems to work and you feel so out of place, and the nights when everything suddenly clicks. About first-show nerves and the elation after the final applause. About eyeliner, doubt, adrenaline, costumes, opinions... all those moments of pure love for this craft.

Why a blog?

Because there are so many stories worth sharing.
Not just for fellow performers, but also for theatre lovers, curious minds, students, and anyone who’s ever been moved by a song or a scene.

I want to take you along into the world of working in musicals. Sometimes I’ll share a glimpse into my own experiences, sometimes I’ll share my opinion on a (taboo) topic I feel passionate about, and occasionally I’ll share my thoughts on pieces of media I have consumed.
